Setting up the Acrobits softphone app on iPod/iPhone/iPad
Before starting the process below, consult your IPFINITY Welcome Letter for the following information:
IPFinity Account Name
IPFinity Password
IPFinity Gateway
Once used, keep this information secure or, better yet, destroy it; you can always request it again. Unauthorized use of your MediaLink account can result in unexpected charges billed to your account.
Purchase and download the Acrobits softphone onto your iPod/iPhone/iPad/Android phone
For iPhone, get it from the Apple AppStore
For Android, get it from Google Play
Set up your IPFINITY account
Gather your MediaLink™ credentials: you will need your username, password and gateway/server information
Click Settings
Click SIP Accounts
Click +
Click Generic SIP Account
Enter the following information:
Title
IPFINITY
Username
Enter the IPFINITY username provided.
Password
Enter the IPFINITY password provided. It must be entered exactly as provided, and is case sensitive.
Domain
Enter the name of the IPFINITY gateway . Please enter carefully, noting punctuation. There must be no extra spaces.
Display Name
Enter your name.
1. Click Advanced Settings
Click Transport Protocol and select udp.
Click Expires and set it to 600.
2. Click Codecs for WiFi
Enable G.722
Enable G.711 u-Law
Enable G.729a if purchased (see below), and drag it to the top of the list
Drag all other codecs to the disabled section
3. Click Codecs for Mobile Data
Enable G.711 u-Law
Enable G.729a if purchased (see below), and drag it to the top of the list
Drag all other codecs to the disabled section
Back out and save
Test your IPFINITY account
The account icon at the top left of the App's home screen should be green
Dialling 333 will play a test audio clip.
Dial a test phone call and verify that the audio is clear in both directions
Highly recommended: purchase the G729 codec (it's an in-App purchase)
If you plan to use the software over 3G/LTE, you will need to purchase the G729 codec.
